Description
Bailey House is a 18th century building that may have an earlier structure beneath its facade, which has been refaced with cement. It stands two storeys high and features an eaves cornice. The house has four windows, including one pointed window, while the others still have their glazing bars. The south front is constructed from a mix of materials, including cement, flints, red brick, and tiles. A corbelled chimney is situated above the ground floor. On this wall, there is a stone inscription that reads, "Sir John Hales, Baronet, gave this water and at his own charge had it brought hither, 1733." Bailey House is part of a group that includes the adjoining wall, a water pump opposite, and several other properties and structures, such as St Augustine's College, Hall, Chapel, The Cemetery Gateway, and The Great Gateway.
