Description

Tankerton Castle is a mid-19th century castellated mansion located on the south side of Tower Hill in Tankerton. It previously served as the offices of the Whitstable Urban District Council until 1973. The building incorporates a small structure known as Tankerton Tower, which was constructed in 1792, likely as a beacon with a dwelling attached. The tower is a squat octagonal shape with two storeys, built from flints and red brick. It features machicolation and a castellated parapet, along with a small rectangular section of linear elevation to the south. The windows are sash style with pointed heads, and the glazing bars remain intact.
