Description
Homelands is a house with an 18th century exterior that likely has a core dating back to the 16th century. It features a timber frame clad in red brick and mathematical tiling, with exposed close-studding, ragstone, and tile hanging on the rear wings. The roof is plain tiled and hipped, with gablets and stacks located at the center left and end right. The building has two storeys and a regular arrangement of windows, with five cross windows on the first floor and four on the ground floor. The central entrance has a half-glazed 20th century door set within a Doric porch, which includes engaged columns and an enriched open pediment, along with an enriched scrolled iron lamp and brackets. The right return of the rear wings is tile hung, while the rear left wing has exposed studding on red brick, featuring one storey and an attic with two gabled dormers. This property was formerly Home Farm to Mersham-Le-Hatch.
