Description

The White House is a pair of cottages that originally served as the parish workhouse. A large red brick chimneybreast on the north wall features a stone inscribed with "This house was built by the parish 1779," although it is likely that the building is an earlier timber-framed structure that was rebuilt and refaced in that year. The building has two storeys and attics, with a ground floor made of red brick and a first floor that is now rendered, revealing exposed scantlings. The roof is tiled and includes two gabled dormers. There are four casement windows with small square leaded panes, and two doorcases topped with flat hoods, each containing doors with four fielded panels.
