Description

Home Farm Cottage is a building dating from around 1800, featuring one storey and attics, constructed of white brick. The central window bay projects and includes a horizontally-sliding sash window with a curved head, above which the roof curves in an 'eyebrow' style reminiscent of a thatched roof. There is a bracket eaves cornice on each side of this bay. The building has a hipped slate roof and two pointed casement windows on the ground floor. The entrance features a round-headed doorcase with a semi-circular tympanum. To the left, there is a later two-storey extension that matches the original style. Home Farm Cottage was originally a lodge for Hothfield Place before the construction of a later lodge across the road. It shares a similar style with The Paddocks, indicating it was designed by the same architect.
