Description

Kingsgate is a two-storey house built in the 1740s by the Weller family, located on Maytham Road in Rolvenden. The exterior was altered in the 19th century. The house is constructed of red brick with grey header bricks, and has a hipped tiled roof. It features four cambered sash windows, each with a keystone, and a stringcourse. An entrance porch features quoined pilasters decorated with urns, and a round arched doorcase with a keystone bearing the Weller family crest. The garden elevation includes two canted bays. A 19th-century addition extends to the rear.

Inside, the house contains an early 18th-century staircase with two turned balusters to each tread and a carved newel post. There is also panelling and an 18th-century wooden fireplace, originally from a house in Wimbledon, with an Adamesque frieze.
