Description

The Old Bakery and The Post Office Stores comprise a building with a probable mediaeval core, its exterior largely dating to the 18th century. It is two storeys high, with a ground floor of painted brick and an upper floor clad in tiles. The roof is hipped and tiled. The fenestration consists of six Dering windows. A two-bay projection is present at the north-west end, and a central two-storeyed bay is set back. A 19th-century post office shop-front extends from the ground floor at the south-east end. The Old Bakery contains a 19th-century iron range and an inglenook fireplace. The front steps are constructed from Bethersden marble, and the step to the back door is a mill stone.
