Description

Ludwell House is a Grade II* listed building located on the west side of Charing High Street. It was built in the early 18th century by the Poole family and is named after a former owner, Dr. Ludwell. The house features two storeys, attics, and cellars, constructed of red brick with alternating grey headers. It has a hipped tiled roof that includes three dormers and a bracket eaves cornice. A painted stringcourse runs along the building. The façade has five sash windows with intact glazing bars. At the front, there is a porch supported by Tuscan columns, leading up five steps to a round-headed doorcase. This doorcase is adorned with a semi-circular fanlight and an eight-panelled fielded door. The property also retains its original iron spear railings surrounding the forecourt.
