Description

This is a 16th-century aisled barn located 30 yards east of Buckwell on the east side of Canterbury Road in Boughton Aluph. The barn is timber framed and stands on a plinth made of brick and rubble, with weatherboarding and a plain tile hipped roof. It features a large hipped mid-strey on the south side and a shallow projecting mid-strey on the north side. Inside, the barn has five bays with aisles, a crown post with curved tension braces supporting the tie beams, and curved shores extending from the sole plate to the arcade posts. The sole plates are set on brick plinths, and there is one truss that has been renewed in the 20th century.
