Description
This building is a lodge known as Bindon Cottage, dating from around the mid-19th century. It is constructed of knapped flint with yellow brick dressings and features a red clay plain tile roof with gabled ends and deep verges adorned with ornate pierced barge-boards. There is a brick axial stack with a corbelled brick cap. The lodge has an L-shaped plan with an entrance porch situated in the angle, showcasing a picturesque style.
The exterior is one storey with an attic, presenting an asymmetrical south front that includes a projecting gabled wing on the right. This wing features a 20th-century timber porch in the angle, topped with a lean-to clay tile roof. The windows consist of 2- and 3-light casements with diamond leaded panes, all framed by brick surrounds with flat rubbed brick arches. On the east side facing the road, there is a similar 3-light casement, and a 2-light casement is located at the rear on the north side. The interior has not been inspected. This lodge is an intact early Victorian Picturesque structure that holds group value.
