Description
No. 12 Southgate Street is an early 18th-century building located on the west side of Southgate Street, dating back to 1833. It stands three storeys high with a basement, featuring red brick walls, a moulded string course, and a brick cornice and parapet. The façade includes five windows and a central doorway. The sash windows are fitted with glazing bars and have segmental brick arches topped with stone keystones. Notably, the centre window on the first floor is round-headed. The doorway is adorned with an elaborately moulded arched pediment hood supported by brackets and Corinthian pilasters. It features a six-panel door with raised and fielded panels, and there is a plain wrought iron railing leading up to the steps. The roof is not visible due to the parapet. To the right, there are two additional bays that are set forward. Nos 2 to 14 (even) form a group.
