Description

A row of cottages located on the south side of Station Road in Over Wallop, originally listed under the address 29, 5, 57 Salisbury Lane. The cottages date to the 16th century with extensions in the 17th and 18th centuries, and a late 20th-century restoration. They are timber-framed with plaster and brick infill, a cob addition, and a thatched roof. The cottages are two storeys and have four bays, with a 17th-century wing extending to the rear on the right side and an 18th-century bay added to the right. There is an outshot to the front, projecting from the left side. A 20th-century door is set under an open thatched porch at the left end of the 16th-century section, and another 20th-century door is centrally located in the right-hand bay. There are irregular 1, 2, and 3-light casement windows, with four 3-light casements on the first floor. Curved braces are visible on each main post. The roof is half-hipped and sweeps down over the outshot. Chimneys are positioned on the ridge over the centre left bay, on the right hip, and on the ridge at the left end of the 16th-century part.
