Description

This is a 17th century timber-framed farmhouse, with substantial alterations and recladding during the 18th century. It is located on Yew Tree Lane, Nursling and Row@me. The original house has a lobby entrance plan, and a later rear extension. The walls are now of brick, in Flemish and English bond, with cambered openings. At the west end are two buttresses, and a pilaster at the east side. The roof is tiled, hipped, with stepped brick eaves, and a shafted stack. The symmetrical south front has two storeys and three windows, the central window being a later addition. Sashes are set in exposed frames, with one casement window. A plain doorway gives access to a five-panelled front door, with a glazed upper panel. The interior retains remnants of the original timber frame within cross walls and the roof structure. Two bricks at the west end are inscribed with the initials “G x P x L 1781” and “L1781”.
