Description

The Weyhill Boer War Memorial, built in 1902, commemorates those who served in the Boer War. It is located at the junction of Sarson Lane and Amesbury Road. The memorial features a Portland stone tablet surrounded by a rubble-stone border, topped with limestone coping. This structure rests on a shallow, chamfered limestone plinth.

The front face of the coping displays the inscription: 'THIS STONE WAS ERECTED IN 1902 BY CAP W FABER LATE RHA / IN MEMORY OF OFFICERS & MEN WHO DIED IN SOUTH AFRICAN WAR.' Below this, the tablet lists the names of local combatants who lost their lives in the Boer War.
