Description

Nos. 1-9, Stanford Road form a terrace of cottages dating from the late 18th and early 19th centuries. They are built of red brick with grey brick headers and have tiled roofs. Nos. 1-3 have a slightly higher roofline than the rest of the terrace. The cottages are two storeys high with dormers, each having one window. Most windows are barred sashes with flush frames, although the ground floor windows of Nos. 1 and 9 have different frames. The doorways have round arches with solid tympana, and most contain six-panelled doors.

Nos. 1-9, together with Stanford House (No. 12) and Reedley House, form a notable architectural group at the entrance to the town and are historically linked with listed buildings on Priestland Place and Highfield.
