Description
Holybank House is an early 19th century large cottage orné. The house is stuccoed with a roof that is mainly tiled but partly slated, featuring six groups of tall cemented chimney-stacks set diagonally. It has an irregular plan, roughly L-shaped, with irregular fenestration and stands at two or three storeys.
The front elevation showcases three gabled semi-dormers with finials and a paired bracket eaves cornice. There are three round-headed casements with an unusual diamond pattern imposed on oblong panes, and a band between the floors. The ground floor features twelve full-height 12-pane sash windows in moulded architraves, along with a central gabled and canted porch that has a four-panelled door and an attached tiled verandah supported on rustic poles.
The garden front includes a total of ten windows, mainly round-headed casements with the same diamond pattern on oblong panes, as well as French windows and tiled verandahs on the ground floor.
