Description
Manor House is a large building, currently used as a home for the elderly. It dates back to the 16th century, with early 19th-century extensions. The house is timber-framed, featuring a later added front (west) and two wings. The exterior is made of brick and rendering, topped with a tile roof. The symmetrical west front, which is from the later period, has a slightly recessed center that is two storeys high with three windows, flanked by two-storey gabled wings, each with one window. The central section is finished in stucco, with a brick dentil eaves, hoodmoulds over the openings, sash windows, and a central gabled porch made of yellow brick. The wings are constructed of red brick with flush yellow dressings, hoodmoulds, and sash windows. The rear (east) elevation features a shafted stack and two brick-faced gables from the early 19th century in the center, which contain the windows, while the remaining walling shows exposed timber framing with rendered infilling. The wings mirror the front elevation but include French windows on the ground floor. Inside, the old north wall is exposed in the staircase, showcasing its timber-framing.
