Description

The Ricks is a house dating to the 16th century, with later 20th-century additions. The original central section is a small, 2-bay, late medieval timber-framed hall. This section features heavy timber and arch bracing to the tie-beams and purlins, and a large chimney breast was inserted beside the middle truss. The roof is tiled, with a small gabled dormer window set at eaves level. The timber framework is exposed and filled with brickwork. It has small casement windows, and a modern porch with an older door frame. At each end of the original hall are modern, 2-storeyed crosswings. One crosswing has painted brickwork, while the other has elm boarded walling. The crosswings are modern in detail.
