Description
The Cedars is a late 18th-century symmetrical pair of buildings located on the south side of Odiham High Street. They are two storeys tall with four windows and feature a hipped red tile roof with brick dentil eaves. The buildings are constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, with rubbed flat arches over the ground floor windows and a plinth. The ground floor of No 49 has a modern bowed Georgian shop window, while No 51 has a double sash window. Both buildings have identical Greek-style porches, each with two columns, two pilasters, a panelled soffit, and stone steps leading up to a six-panelled door surrounded by an architrave. An incised brick on No 51 indicates that Edward Parlet replaced the previous front in 1780. At the rear of No 51, there is a long two-storey extension from the 17th century, featuring an exposed timber frame, brick nogging, and a red tile roof with casement windows. The rear extension of No 49 is from the 18th century and also has casement windows.
