Description

Malthouse Bridge, built in 1792, is a standard type of bridge that crosses the Basingstoke Canal. It features a single cambered arch that spans both the waterway and the towpath. The bridge is constructed of red brickwork in English bond, with a projecting band that follows the slightly-cambered roadway. The parapet wall ends in square piers topped with plain stone caps, and there are straight brick cutwaters and metal ties.
