Description
Monteagle House is a 16th and 17th century, two-storey timber-framed building featuring an inserted central chimney and an early 17th century two-storey porch. The east front showcases an exposed frame with painted brick infill, while the lower walls are constructed of brick and the upper part is tile-hung. The front has old leaded casement windows, while modern windows are found elsewhere. The porch is gabled with rendered walls and includes small coupled lights in splayed openings on both floors, along with a larger casement window above the arched doorway, which is framed by a coarse rood-mould. The roof is gabled and covered with red tiles, and there is a shafted brick stack. The framing is also exposed on the interior. There are rearward gabled and lower extensions that date from the 18th century and around 1900.
