Description
Garett's Farmhouse is a small two-storey house with origins dating back to the 15th and 17th centuries. The rear section, which is the south-east part of the building, is an early timber-framed structure from the 15th century. It features an arch-braced truss that is visible internally, along with an inserted floor and a central chimney. This part has a red tile half-hipped roof, two tile-fronted half-dormers, boarded end gables, and cement-covered walls, except for the lower east gable, which has a brick-nogged half-timber frame. The windows are casements.
The front section, facing north-east, is a late 17th-century Queen Anne style building made of red brick, rendered on the south-west side. It has a symmetrical facade with three gables above five windows, with the center featuring a blank panel. The roof is covered with red tiles, and the gables have tile-hanging. Other features include a wooden moulded eaves gutter, Flemish bond brickwork, a projecting first-floor band, cambered ground-floor openings, and a cement plinth. The windows are casements, and the panel above the central door has a diaper pattern made of blue headers. The plain door is located beneath a canopy supported by curved brackets.
