Description

Amberley House is a building dating to around 1500, with alterations in the 18th century and about 1900. The house retains a largely complete timber frame of a late medieval hall, notable for its arch-braced roof timbers and cambered tie beams. Attached to one corner of this original frame is an 18th-century two-storey section with a single window. The principal, three-storey, three-window front dates to around 1900, constructed after a fire. The rear of the building features old tiles, but the majority of the roof is covered in slate. The construction incorporates red brickwork, with roughcast render on the east side, between areas of exposed timber framing. Windows are primarily sash, with some casements. A canopied door was added around 1900.
