Description
Well Manor Farmhouse is a 17th and 18th century timber-framed farmhouse, originally in an L-shape, with a later 18th-century extension on the west side. The west front has two storeys and four windows, topped by a red tile roof hidden behind a parapet. The walls are painted brick, with flat, rubbed arches over the first-floor windows and rubbed, cambered arches over the ground-floor openings. A plinth runs along the base, and the windows have stone sills. The windows are sash windows in exposed frames, with three lights on the ground floor. A particularly fine doorcase is located in the second bay from the north end, featuring a moulded cornice, console brackets, and an architrave containing a three-light fanlight above a six-panelled door. The older rear sections are also brick-built, with bands marking the first and second floors, cambered ground-floor openings, and a plinth. These rear sections have casement windows. Inside, the farmhouse contains an entrance hall with a fine 18th-century staircase.
