Description
The Red Lion Hotel is an 18th-century building located on East Street in Fareham. It features a stuccoed facade with a parapet that curves up in the center and has a re-tiled roof. The hotel is two storeys high and includes four dormers. There are four windows, which are sashes with glazing bars, along with early 19th-century casements that have cambered head linings. The building has two bays on both the ground and first floors, topped with slate roofs, and includes a semi-circular porch. Behind the hotel are the former Assembly Rooms, which have been converted into bedrooms. The Red Lion Hotel is part of a group that includes Nos 1 to 13 (odd) Surgery and Fareham House, as well as Nos 10 and 12. The Surgery is noted as a building of local interest. Additionally, the Red Lion Hotel and No 10 (Courts Warehouse) are also part of groups on Union Street and High Street.
