Description

This is a row of early 19th-century terraced houses at 3-7 East Street, Fareham. The houses are built of grey brick, with Nos 3 and 7 having red brick window dressings and quoins at the west end, while No 5 is entirely red brick. All have slate roofs, although No 7 now has modern pantiles. The houses are two storeys high, with a symmetrical facade featuring four sashes with glazing bars, set within stuccoed lintels. Each house has a doorway with a moulded architrave surround, and Nos 3 and 5 have flat hoods supported by brackets. The doorways have panelled reveals, and the six-panelled doors are glazed at the top. Nos 1 to 13 (odd) East Street, together with Nos 10 and 12 and the Red Lion public house, form a notable group, with the building at No 1 being of local interest as a surgery.
