Description
The Church of St Mary is a Grade II* listed building dating from the 13th century, designed in the Early English style. It features a long rectangular layout consisting of an aisleless nave and chancel, along with a 19th-century north vestry or heating chamber and a 19th-century south porch. The church has a red tile roof, which includes a timbered bell turret at the west end, topped with a pyramid tile roof and horizontal weather-boarding. The original lancet windows are located in the chancel, with restored versions in the nave. There is also a small 15th-century cusped window next to the chancel's south door, and three lancets set within an arched opening at the east end. The interior is notable for its good modern stained glass and remains largely unaltered, primarily due to its isolated location, as the settlement has developed at Netley.
