Description
The Cockpit is a small country house built in the mid to late 19th century, showcasing a romantic character with numerous gables. The earlier section of the house is symmetrical, featuring windows on either side of a central projecting porch, which is topped by an oriel window. The roof is covered with red tiles, and there is ornamental barge boarding. The building is constructed from yellow brick in Flemish bond, with blue rusticated quoins and a flush band at the first floor. The windows are casements. The newer section of the house is larger and also includes gabled projections above a ground floor bay, with plain bargeboards and a roughcast finish within an exposed timber frame. The remaining walls are made of red brick, and it also features casement windows.
