Description
Sun Dial House, part of the Royal Southern Yacht Club, dates back to 1818 and was originally a terrace of five cottages, each two storeys high with attics. Each unit typically features one window and one door, although one upper window and one door have been blocked. The building has a long red tile roof that is hipped at both ends and brick dentil eaves. The walls are constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, with some blue headers and two flush blue bands at the first floor. The ground floor has cambered openings, and there are some original sash windows in exposed frames, along with some casements that have square leaded lights. The roof includes flat-roofed dormers with either two or three lights. The doorways are adorned with one gabled and three flat canopies supported by brackets. Additionally, the east end features a club room wing with an interesting modern design and a lead roof.
