Description
Anstey General Hospital, specifically the stores block, is a building constructed in 1793. It is two storeys tall with an attic and features 13 bays, with the central bay being slightly advanced and topped with a pediment. Inside the oval pediment, there is an inscription that reads 'Alton Workhouse erected 1793'. The building is made of red brick and has a slate mansard roof. The ground floor includes a central doorcase with a pediment, flanked by six recessed sash windows. The first floor has 13 recessed sash windows, and there is a brick dentil cornice along the top. Additionally, there are four dormer windows on either side of the pediment. A narrow path lined with box and laurel plants leads from the road to the entrance.
