Description
Blunden's House is a house that dates from the 16th and 17th centuries, with 20th-century extensions. It features timber framing and brickwork for its walls, topped with a tiled roof. This late-medieval hall house has three bays and a cross wing at the south end, which has been extended to the rear in the 20th century. A bay was also added in the 20th century at the north end, matching the original style. The house is two storeys high with irregularly placed windows. It has a half-hipped roof with two gabled half-dormers at the front and one at the rear. The arch-braced frame is mostly exposed in the upper part, with brick infill and other walling that shows a filled doorway. The windows are 20th-century leaded casements, and there is a plain boarded door. Inside, there is a massive chimney breast, partly made of stone, that has been inserted, and much of the frame is exposed. A small statue of a saint, dating from around 1900, is set in a niche in the gable of the middle dormer.
