Description

Yew Tree Cottage is a house from the early 19th century, with a brick that is dated 1811 or 1814, and it has undergone some later alterations. The structure is made of red brick with blue brick headers arranged in Flemish bond, featuring blue brick secondary arches and a platt band on the front elevation. It has a plain tile roof and brick end stacks topped with terracotta pots. The house is two storeys high and consists of two bays, with a rear outshut that has a catslide roof.

The central entrance features a door with six moulded panels, surrounded by a roll-moulded wooden frame and a header-brick flat arch, along with a 20th-century gabled porch. The windows on the ground floor are three-light metal windows, where the outer lights are leaded and the central lights are casements with vertical glazing bars, complete with original hooks and catches. These ground-floor windows have segmental header-brick arches and scrolled keystones, while the first-floor windows have flat heads and a fire insurance plaque situated between them. Above the door, there is a brick that is dated and marked with the initials 'E+C', along with two other bricks that are initialled 'F+B' and 'M+W'.

On the right side, there is a 20th-century vertically-boarded outshut. The rear of the cottage features two windows similar to those at the front but with two lights, and a small leaded light located below the eaves on the right. The right return has a single-light window with vertical glazing bars on the outshut gable, while the left return is tile-hung on the first floor, with small windows on the left. The interior of the cottage has not been inspected.
