Description

This is a house, now divided into four separate properties. The core of the building dates back to the 16th century and is timber-framed, although it was significantly altered and refaced in the early 19th century. It is two storeys high, with four windows on the south, or street-facing, front and three windows on the side elevation. The front is constructed of red brick with grey brick headers, and is painted. The roof is tiled, with a brick chimneystack. The building has an L-shaped layout. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars, although two ground-floor windows on the south front have been replaced with modern windows in the late 20th century. The interior is said to retain remnants of the original 16th-century timber-framed structure of four bays, potentially of a "continuous jetty" design, including two tiebeams, an upstairs partition, and first-floor ceiling joists. Evidence of wattle and daub and an original window opening to the northwest on the first floor have also been reported.
