Description

Burnt House Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century or possibly earlier. It is a timber-framed building with red brick infilling. The ground floor of the right-hand portion was rebuilt in brick, and the left-hand side was refaced or added, with ashlar on the ground floor and red brick and grey headers above. The roof is tiled, half-hipped in style, and there are casement windows. The house has two storeys and three windows.

Inside, there are exposed beams and an open fireplace with an original bread oven and salt recess. On the first floor, an exposed ashlar chimneybreast, oak floorboards, and a wooden spiral staircase lead to two attic rooms. The oldest of these attic rooms features a vaulted ceiling with exposed cross tie beams.
