Description

The Vicarage is a substantial early 18th-century house situated on the north side of Wadhurst High Street. It is two storeys and has an attic, originally featuring three windows. The facade is predominantly red brick with alternating grey headers. Four pilasters are present on the front elevation, separated by a stringcourse, and a dentilled eaves cornice runs along the top. The roof is tiled and hipped. Long and short quoins are used around the window openings, each with a keystone above. The original window glazing bars remain intact. A similar design is used for the doorway, which is flanked by narrow windows. A modern wing has been added to the rear of the property. Inside, a staircase in the Chinese Chippendale style is a notable feature.
