Description
Thunders Hill Barn and outbuildings, dating from around 1800, are a timber-framed structure weatherboarded on a brick plinth, topped with a half-hipped tile roof. The barn is an economical three-bay design made from well-sawn timber. The wall panels and roof planes are diagonally braced, with long passing braces in the roof. The posts feature gunstock jowls, and there are arch braces supporting the tie beams. The southeast bay is separated as a stable, which includes a transverse rail and additional diagonal bracing. At the northwest end, there is an axis-aligned lower tiled outbuilding, and at the southeast end, a perpendicular lower tiled outbuilding, both constructed in Flemish bond brickwork and partly obscured by later additions. Together, these structures create an attractive ensemble with the barn.
