Description
The Stables adjoining Buxted Park, built in the 18th century, is a two-storey structure featuring five windows. It is constructed of red brick with long and short stone quoins and has an eaves cornice. The central section projects and includes three windows above a round-headed carriage archway, which is topped by a pediment that contains a cartouche flanked by swags. The roof is hipped and covered with slate, featuring a large central cupola. The first floor has casement windows, and there are arched entrances to the stalls and coach-houses on the west side. Originally, the stables formed a complete courtyard, but after a fire in 1940, the east wing of two storeys was converted into part of the house.
