Description
Stable Flat is an early 19th-century building situated in Rotherfield, forming part of a courtyard layout with structures on three sides. On the house side, there is a 20-foot high red brick wall featuring grey headers and eleven blank round-headed arches, which connects to a lean-to implement shed. At right angles to this wall is the former Coach House, constructed of red brick with grey headers, which has five blank arches at the top, weather-boarded sections, and windows. The building is topped with a slate roof and features a stone cupola supported by four Roman Doric columns, along with a ball and weathervane. Opposite the Coach House is the Cow Byre and threshing barn, also made of red brick, with a hipped slate roof and blank arches, and includes a central loading door.
