Description

Boswell House, originally a pair of houses, dates primarily from the 18th century but likely incorporates older underlying structures. It is three storeys high and has a four-window front. The ground floor is faced with cobbles and has red brick dressings; the upper floors are tile-hung. The roof is tiled and features a bellcast profile, likely concealing the overhang of a timber-framed building. A wooden cornice runs along the top of the building. The original glazing bars are missing from the windows. A doorway with a flat hood supported by brackets is located on the south-eastern house. Nos. 22 to 28 (even) are designated as a group with Barrack Hall and Chantry Lane.
