Description
The Village Hall, built in 1849, is a single-storey building featuring three windows. It is constructed of red brick with grey headers and has a tiled roof. At the south end of the west front, there is a projection topped with a gable that is decorated with crosses and a finial, along with a large pointed window consisting of three lights. The other windows are modern. Originally, this building served as the Village School and was built by the Reverend R. R. Tatham, who was the Rector of Dallington from 1848 to 1893. The foundation stone was laid in July 1849 by his predecessor, the Reverend George Wagner, who was the Perpetual Curate of St Stephen's Church in Brighton. Wagner had previously started the first school in Dallington in his own house, which is now known as the Old Rectory.
