Description
This building is an outbuilding located approximately 10 metres to the northwest of Ockham House. It is an oasthouse that has been converted to accommodation, dating from the early to mid-19th century, with possible earlier origins, and was converted in the 1930s. The structure features brick and tile-hung plain tile roofs. It is a two-storey, three-bay range with a circular oast at the left (west) end and another added to the rear left.
The west front of the main range is constructed of brick in English bond and includes a part-glazed door from the 1930s along with small-pane, metal casement windows. The roof is hipped, with a ridge stack located near the right end. To the left is the oast made of brick in Sussex bond, which has inserted sash windows on the ground floor, wooden steps (with the lower flight removed) leading up to an old board door at the upper level. This door rises through the eaves under a flat roof and has an opening in the roof to its right, along with a cowl.
On the rear side, the main range is tile-hung on the first floor and features 1930s windows. The added oast on the right is made of brick in header bond and includes 1930s sash windows and an old court. This oast has a band door and additional 1930s windows. Inside, the main range has boxed beams, but the building was noted to be in a state of disrepair at the time of inspection.
