Description

The Parish Church of St Mary is a Grade I listed building located on the north side of Upper Lake in Battle. It features a chancel, a north chapel, a nave with aisles, and a west tower. The church was founded by Abbot Ralph between 1107 and 1124. The nave dates back to the 12th century, the chancel to the 13th century, the north chapel and south aisle to the 14th century, and the north aisle and west tower to the 15th century. This church is a fine example of a large medieval parish church.
