Description

The Glebe is a probable medieval, 15th century or earlier, L-shaped building located on St Thomas's Street, Winchelsea. The North wall's first floor exhibits exposed timber-framing with close studding. A stone and brick chimney breast is present. The gable end of the North wing features red brick on the ground floor and a tile hung upper section. The remainder of the West wall is constructed of stone rubble. Sash windows retain their original glazing bars and wooden shutters. A tiled roof covers the structure. The South wall, including its gable, is of stone rubble, with casement windows. The East wall has two half-hipped, tile-hung gables, each incorporating an attic window. A stone archway is located at the South East corner.
