Description

These are early 17th-century houses situated on Watchbell Street, with the first floor of the building between numbers 20A and 21 projecting on curved brackets. The front was refaced with tiles in the 18th century. The buildings are two stories high with an attic. Number 20 and 21 each have two windows, while number 20A has one. The facades are stuccoed, with grooved detailing on the ground floor to imitate stonework. A parapet runs along the top, and the roof is tiled, featuring one dormer window in each house. The windows are sash windows with intact glazing bars. Each house has a large bay window on the ground floor. The doorways incorporate narrow, rectangular fanlights divided by vertical lines. The doorway at number 20 also features fluted pilasters and a small, flat hood above the door, echoing the overhang of the first floor. Numbers 18 to 21 together form a distinct group.
