Description
Hillside Cottage and Paygate Cottage is an L-shaped building divided into two houses. The south-west wing, known as Hillside Cottage, dates from the 17th century or earlier. It has two storeys and an attic, featuring two windows and one dormer. The ground floor is constructed of red brick, while the upper floor is tile-hung, topped with a tiled roof and fitted with casement windows. The north wing, Paygate Cottage, was added in the early 19th century. This section also has two storeys and four windows facing north-east. The ground floor is stuccoed, with the upper floor tile-hung and a tiled roof. It features sash windows with glazing bars and a fretted gable at the centre of the north-east front, which is similar to the gable end on the south-east side.
