Description
This property, originally a single house and now subdivided into three dwellings at 44, 46, 48, and 50 High Street, Seaford, dates primarily from the early 17th century, although it was significantly altered in the early 19th century and again in the 20th century. The building has a timber-frame construction and is faced with cobbles, with a tiled roof punctuated by one central and one end brick chimney stack. It is two storeys high with attics, displaying three windows on each front. Two 20th-century flat-roofed dormers are present. Number 46 features an early 19th-century 16-pane sash window set within a moulded architrave, and a modern door. Number 44 has 20th-century casement windows with shutters, a left-side door case, a plank door, and a tiled weatherhood supported by wooden brackets. Number 48 displays a 20th-century 3-light casement window and a modern bow window on the ground floor. Number 50 is an early 19th-century addition, rendered and with a tiled roof, featuring a first-floor 16-pane sash window and a 20th-century bow window on the ground floor. Number 46 retains an axial beam with a lamb's tongue stop.
