Description
The Laindons is an important mid-18th century house located on the southeast side of High Street. The building has a façade that is three storeys high and five windows wide, constructed of brick with blue headers and rubbed brick details. The ground floor features a fine pilastered doorway with the original panelled door. Each floor has five three-pane sash windows with revealed frames, and the central window on each floor is topped with a rubbed brick elliptical arch. The building is capped with a brick parapet that has stone coping and a tile roof with a single dormer. Notable features include fine lead rainwater pipes. There is a later 19th-century shop front to the south of the door and a carriage arch to the north. The interior is plain and has been altered, with first-floor rooms that include fielded-panel doors in reeded doorcases and fielded-panel window shutters. All the listed buildings on High Street up to and including No 118 form a group.
