Description
The ruins of St Mary's Chapel, located in Bulverhythe, are remnants of the chancel of a parish church that dates from the 13th to 14th century. The structure consists of two blocks of masonry that stand about 12 feet high, with a connecting wall that is approximately 3 feet high. There is a tablet attached to the ruins indicating that the nave and western tower have been completely destroyed. The walls of the chapel incorporate carved stones from an earlier Norman church that once occupied the same site. The building is constructed of stone and flint.
