Description

The Old Hastings Club, located at 39A High Street, dates from around 1820 and features a dignified stucco design. The building stands three storeys tall, with the ground floor displaying a rusticated finish. It has a central elliptically arched window with railings in front, flanked by round arch doorways that include fanlights. On the first and second floors, there are two Ionic columns and end pilasters that support an entablature, along with a shallow balustered balcony on the first floor. The central sash windows on the first and second floors are adorned with a cornice on console brackets and are flanked by tall narrow panels set in moulded architraves. The roof is covered with slate. The Old Hastings Club is part of a group of listed buildings along the High Street, extending up to and including No 118.
