Description
This is a late 16th century timber-framed building range, located on All Saints' Street and restored at a later date. It has tiled roofs and is two storeys high with attics in gabled ends, featuring three windows overall.
Nos 136 and 137 have a first floor which overhangs the street, supported by a moulded bressumer and carved brackets. The ground floors of Nos 135 and 135A have been underbuilt with painted brick, while the ground floors of Nos 136 and 137 are stuccoed. The first floors of Nos 135 and 136 have studded timber framing with plaster infilling. No 136 features a three-light window projecting on brackets, with a cove beneath; it contains a modern casement window. It also has a studded gable above the projecting window, supported by a moulded bressumer on shaped brackets, with an attic window within it. The ground floor of No 136 has a multi-pane rectangular bay window with a moulded cill. No 137 includes a small 19th century canted shop window with original glazing bars, and a reeded doorcase. The upper portion of No 137 is wholly stuccoed and features a half-nipped gable end with modern casement windows. No 136 has moulded chamfer-stop jambs to the doorcase.
The listed buildings in All Saints’ Street form a notable group.
